To nap. . .or not to nap. That is my question.

My Mr. Kal is at that wonderful age where  naps are questionable. If we give him a nap he's up till all hours. If we don't give him a nap he's "The Hulk" and even the smallest things will set him off for the rest of the evening.  Both are a little sketchy! The following is an example of a "Nap Day."
I had no words, literally, when I saw this. These were the Scriptures my parents gave to me my sophomore year in college. These were the scriptures that I went to Ricks College with and to institute with. These are the scriptures that I gained my testimony of Christ in.  Before Kal got ahold of them they had seen better days. And,
luckily it only was the topical guide.
But , I still had to turn around and leave so I didn't say or do anything foolish. I left this one to Scott. Kal has since been banished from our room for a week. In Mr. Kal's defense, I honestly think he was just bored, not sleepy at all, and was simply looking for something to pass the time. Needless to say, I have not given him a nap since!!!

The Simple Things

This is what I woke up to this morning after Scott had already left for church. I'm so grateful for the simple things and kind gestures in life. Sigh. . .

Family Day

Our post 9th Birthday celebration took place at PLAYDATE PDX today. So fun to watch the kids get pink faced and sweaty head to toe on a rainy, windy, typically fall Pacific Northwest day.  Ms. birthday girl got to invite one friend along and they literally ran their legs off.  So much so, that no complaints were made when we told all the kids it was time to leave.  Yeah, it was a good day!
Our fun party minus Mr. Kal.  He is hiding!

Fun Friends!

Guess Who Turned 9?

This little beauty turned 9 yesterday!  I can't believe how fast it has gone.  Someone recently told me that when you have small kids the days and weeks go by very slow but the years go by very fast. It is so true!  I told Avery her birth story yesterday.  It was fun to answer her questions and see what details she focused on.  Being a mother is one of the best things in my life!

Just be you

I was recently talking with a patient, who happens to be a family friend, and I was telling him that when I "grow up" I want to be just like his wife.  She is simply amazing!  Mother of 8. Darling grandmother.  Strong member of our faith.  Happy.  Kind. Healthy.  Fit. . .and on and on. Simply put, she is just a "really good" person in so many ways.
Now, I know for a fact that this man loves and adores his wife.  He can attest to all these wonderful qualities and many more I am sure.  Yet, rather than agreeing with me and saying, "that is nice of you to say," he said, "Heather, the only person you should try to be like, is yourself."
Honestly, his profound words took me by surprise and I continued to ponder them since
Rather than always focusing on what I am NOT I need to focus on what I AM.  How do I make "that girl" grow and stretch and be the best Wife, Mother, and Daughter of God "she" can be?
